Extracting Old Insulation From Exterior Walls In Kilkenny
Over the years, the original insulation within a cavity wall can deteriorate, settle or become waterlogged, and once this occurs it loses its effectiveness and can actually begin to draw moisture across the wall and into your home.
Cavity wall extraction is the process of fully removing this failed or damaged material from the cavity so the wall can dry out properly and, where appropriate, be re-insulated with a fresh, high-performing product. This is a job we carry out regularly for homeowners across Kilkenny who are experiencing damp patches, cold walls or increasing heating bills.
We remove all types of insulation material during extraction, including mineral wool, foam, polystyrene beads and more, which helps to prevent thermal bridging.
To extract the old insulation, we remove a small number of bricks at carefully chosen points along the wall and blow compressed air into the cavity, breaking the old material apart and driving it downward. At the same time, a powerful industrial vacuum collects the waste as it falls, clearing the cavity from top to bottom without disturbing the structure of your home.
Once the wall is completely clear, we reinstate the brickwork and, should you wish, refill the clean, dry cavity with new insulation.
Alongside cavity extraction, we offer a range of additional services including cavity wall insulations in Kilkenny, attic insulation and more.
Every extraction is carried out by an experienced, fully insured team who leave the site clean and tidy upon completion. If you are concerned that the insulation in your walls has failed, or you simply want it assessed, call Kilkenny Insulation on 087 391 1659 to arrange a free inspection across Kilkenny.
